Supporting patients from lived experience.
It started with a robe.
Hospital gowns leave much to be desired in comparison to normal clothing. That’s why Andrea purchased a robe for her husband Scotty before he went in for his cardiac surgeries in 2019. It didn’t seem like a big deal at the time, but eight surgeries later, the robe proved to play a small, yet significant role in his healing journey. At a time of uncertainty, it made him feel warm, secure, and frankly more like a human being.
Similar to Scotty’s experience, we hope to help other patients with their recovery and bring them that much closer to home. We will be providing newly purchased robes to patients on the cardiac ward at Vancouver General Hospital starting this holiday season.
Why a robe?
-
Because hospital gowns can be…you know...drafty.
-
Hood-up-mode provides instant Muhammad Ali vibes which can give just a little added courage to face the next test or procedure.
-
Fits over hospital clothes without obstructing them and fits any IV lines or tethers.
-
Good for chair sitting, napping in bed, or doing hot laps on the ward.
-
Pockets can hold items like a portable heart monitor and a phone to stay connected with family.
We have carefully sourced a robe that is Scotty-approved, ensuring enough space for wires, and a pocket to hold a phone or monitors.
